1. Go to www.ted.com and choose your first video. Remember you only have this class period, so don't take too long choosing your first video.
2. As you watch the video, take notes. Use your TED handouts from class as a guide. If you need a new one, there are links below. You cannot print in the computer lab, but you can use these forms and copy paste them into the Blog.
3. Once you've watched your video and taken notes, you need to post your first blog. Choose your class blog from the menu at the top of this page. Here is what needs to be included in the blog post:
Your first name and last INITIAL and class period
Speaker of the video and the title
Paragraph Summary (make sure the first sentence introduces the speaker/title) The summary should be 5-7 sentences
What you learned and how you will use it (3-5 sentences)
Would you recommend this video? (Write a complete sentence and explain why - 3-5 sentences)

It is common in college classes of any subject to have to write summaries. For the next few Fridays into the end of February, students will be watching short videos on experts of every field and writing summaries of those videos. Today we watched a short 8 minute video from Adora Svitak (What Adults Can Learn from Kids) and practiced taking notes and writing summaries. The note taking sheet, Summary page, and "How to write a summary" are included below, as well as a link to the TED talk.
